James acts for a wide variety of clients, including corporates, investors, and officeholders such as appointed insolvency practitioners; both in relation to disputes arising in the UK as well as cross-border or multi-jurisdictional scenarios.
He has a successful track record acting for clients across a wide variety of sectors, both nationally and cross-border - resulting in actual recoveries for clients exceeding £50 million.
James is highly regarded for his technical and forensic work and regularly coordinates and collaborates with other professional advisors, such as experts and accountants, as part of a multi-disciplinary team on larger and international cases.
Experience
- Successfully pursuing substantial professional, fiduciary and accessory liability claims; including against intermediaries (e.g. agents and advisors) and officeholders (e.g. directors and trustees).
- Advising officeholders, investors, and creditors in relation to restructuring and insolvency disputes; including statutory and officeholder claims under the Insolvency Act 1986.
- Notable experience investigating and pursuing claims against corporate auditors in relation to accounting and audit failures.
- Investigating and pursuing claims concerning failed investments, tax-schemes, fraud, and misrepresentations to investors.
- Acting for receivers appointed by secured creditors in relation to claims concerning the handling and recovery of substantial property assets.
- Advising in relation to risk scenarios and claims concerning the conduct and liability of appointed insolvency practitioners.
- Advising in relation cross-border or multi-jurisdictional projects, including recent experience acting on cases originating in, or connected to, the Caribbean, Hong Kong, Channel Islands, Isle of Man, Gibraltar and Cyprus.
