All companies face an increasing administrative and regulatory burden and it’s down to the directors to act in the best interests of the business. For quoted public companies, there are additional compliance and governance requirements. Companies come to us as experts in ongoing governance advice.

Companies face a complex range of ongoing administrative requirements across many different areas. Keeping on top of these can be challenging but failing to do so can have serious consequences for those in charge.

What do we do?

Our advisers understand the needs of all companies from owner-managed businesses to large private companies and quoted Plcs. We work closely with boards to provide ongoing governance advice on legal requirements and corporate governance, helping our clients navigate the tricky regulatory landscape.

Quoted public companies

Quoted public companies face their own set of challenges as they navigate their way through market rules, investor guidelines and corporate governance requirements. We give ongoing governance advice to more than 20 quoted public companies, giving us the depth of experience and wealth of knowledge to manage the specific challenges faced by those companies quickly and efficiently. As an AIM-quoted Plc ourselves, we also have first-hand experience of operating within this environment.

Directors’ duties

Being a director is a role that comes with huge responsibilities – after all, decisions made by directors have a direct impact on the company’s success. If you’re a director, you must comply with certain legal duties. There are also other compliance and governance-related problems for you to navigate your business through.

Our corporate governance lawyers work with clients across the public and private sectors to give ongoing governance advice on how to meet their obligations and stay on the right side of company legislation. Our company secretarial services help our clients keep up-to-date with everything they need to do.

The advice we provide includes helping companies organise board and shareholder meetings, advising on the decision-making process and handling key documentation including board minutes. We can also support you by advising on directors’ duties, keeping company records up-to-date and ensuring you make your Companies House filings on time.

Gateley provides ‘an exemplary level of overall service’ is ‘very efficient and timely in its communications – the advice clients receive is well-thought out and appropriate, explaining things in language clients can understand’.
