Rhydian is a Senior Structural Engineer within GSP’s Engineering Department based in Wales. He is a first language Welsh speaker with 15+ year post graduate experience in the industry.

Rhydian has experience across a multitude of sectors including education, rail, highways, renewables, oil and gas, MOD, maritime structures and various buildings from large industrial down to small domestic properties and historical buildings.

He is experienced in undertaking a variety of structural inspections and associated structural appraisal reports, including reactive emergency/ dangerous structures, surveys of a variety of building types from large industrial down to small domestic properties, historical buildings, and also producing pre-demolition survey reports.

Rhydian has experience in undertaking the design and detailing of all main structural materials for various types of structures. Working on a number of large and small public and private sector schemes across a broad range of sectors.

A confident communicator, both internally and externally at all levels, with a good working relationship with many clients and other members of various design teams.

Experience

  1. Undertaking an emergency out of hours assessment of the structural integrity of two properties which were subject to extensive damage caused by a stolen vehicle impacting the front elevations.
  2. Undertaking the structural appraisal of an existing village hall building. Following my report the main structure was to be replaced, and I was asked to undertake the structural design of the entire scheme.
  3. Undertaking an extensive structural inspection of every building of a secondary school site, and producing a detailed structural appraisal report outlining the existing structural condition of each building and providing recommendations.
  4. Responsible for the structural design of a new build two storey timber frame Passivhaus Primary School.
  5. Undertaking the role of resident engineer for a new 8.2MW (4No. wind turbine) wind farm located on an oil and petrochemical storage site.
