Matt is responsible for the provision of surveying services for Gateley Smithers Purslow in the South West of England and also South Wales.

Working for insurance companies, loss adjusters and private clients the team professionally report upon and project manage the repairs of complex insurance claims.

We can assist all stakeholders in an insurance claim with surveying expertise and work with our quantity surveying colleagues, planners, architects and engineers to create multi-disciplinary teams. These teams work together to deliver repair projects.

The team has general surveying and commercial surveying experience.

As a Regional Director Matt has 25 years of surveying experience being an Chartered Building Surveyor. Prior to becoming a surveyor Matt worked as an property underwriter for a major insurer. Having had some commercial experience, Matt has worked within a loss adjusting company as a surveyor before moving to Smithers Purslow in 2017.

Matt’s expertise lies in dealing with complex insurance projects.

  2. I have provided input to aid clients in agreeing the settlement of large insurance losses.
  3. I have co-ordinated specialist teams to enable the identification of building defects.
  4. I have resolved major complaints for clients by agreeing an approach to resolution.
  5. I have worked with legal professionals to provide expert reports on building defects.
