Matthew is a graduate architectural technologist (graduated July 2023) and recently obtained ACIAT chartership status, working within the A&P North Team at Gateley Smithers Purslow (GSP). Having joined GSP in September 2023, he has previous experience as an architectural assistant at an architectural and planning consultancy based in Derbyshire, while on a one-year placement.

Previous expertise includes generating designs and obtaining planning for various greenbelt and agricultural holdings – including Class Q barn conversions. Work surrounding heritage assets, obtaining listed building consent, and providing advice for clients around such projects. Experience with a range of other, mostly residential based, projects from large 100 to 500 housing schemes to extensions.

Experience

  1. Producing drawings and feasibility studies for clients earlier in projects (RIBA stage 2) and aid clients with pre-apps.
  2. Creating 3D model and visualisations for projects to help clients market/ visualise a project.
  3. Producing planning and listed building consent drawings for planning stages (RIBA stage 3).
  4. Collaborating with A&P colleagues and structural engineers with complicated party wall applications and other areas: i.e. producing a large and highly detailed drawing packages (RIBA stage 4) for existing, propping and proposed.
