Expertise

Extensive experience in many facets of building surveying with extensive knowledge in building /construction and technical detailing, in-depth knowledge of the building regulations and first hand experience from the contracting side to the professional side.

Llion’s skills and experience stem from a practical background as a roofing contractor working on various schemes, including his own building projects. In his current role he is Technical Director of the Chester office and a Certified Historic Building Professional with the RICS and a Chartered Building Surveyor.

He has undertaken a wide variety of projects and he has varied knowledge, skills and experience including; the preparation of feasibility studies, scheme budget costs, outline design proposals, detailed design proposals, full construction design, schedules of works, specifications, preliminaries and full tender documentation, site inspections, contract administration, cost reports, negotiation and settlement of final accounts, lead consultant role as well as project management, CDM Co-ordinator. Measured surveys, topographical surveys, condition surveys and specific defect reports; party wall surveyor duties, quinquennial surveys. Providing building surveys, insurance rectification projects, expert reports and forensic advice including boundary disputes, extensive claims associated to cladding to high rise buildings £5m up to £30m claims and formulating expert reports.

How do you help clients?

I help clients deal with complicated technical construction issues from cladding issues to listed building advice, building regulation compliance, building pathology issues related to building projects of various types of buildings to providing expert witness services; to insurance claim advice and solutions all in a proficient and to high quality standards.

Experience

  1. Advising on cladding matters form a technical fire consideration to assist Metro Bank and Legal colleagues from Gateley. 
  2. Advising developers on cladding matters related to apartment blocks in an expert witness capacity.
  3. Contract administration and cost control services and historic building conservation fabric repair advice associated to £8m phased project over a number of years to achieve successful building conservation projects to the clients expectations.
  4. Reporting on thermal compliance and upgrade considerations to rented listed property and what is a practical solution and should be considered for exemption under the Welsh Government Requirements for Llantysilio Estate.
  5. Dealing with complicated insurance matters and providing fair and balanced technical advice to the circumstances related to a fire/ flood/ escape of water/ impact damage, on a responsive and proactive bases.
