He has vast experience in carrying out real estate due diligence and has a particular expertise in Environmental Law especially contaminated land and regulatory issues affecting industrial activities.

How do you help clients?

I help clients to understand and manage risks associated with buying, selling and leasing commercial real estate (particularly contaminated or highly regulated sites), whether for investment, redevelopment or otherwise.

Having a dual real estate and environmental law specialism saves time, money and delays for clients as I am able to identify important issues early in a transaction and provide commercial solutions.

I regularly work with our corporate teams on major projects and have worked in a wide variety of sectors including retail, defence, motor, residential and social housing, finance and industrial and understand client requirement in these sectors.

  1. Advising a global provider of pallets in relation to the letting of a wide variety of sites across the UK.
  2. Acting for a variety of leading national house builders in relation to contaminated land issues on the acquisition of land for redevelopment.
  3. Acting for a company in relation to the acquisition of a former landfill site.
  4. A US company on a share acquisition of a producer of car parts involving four contaminated sites where the seller had been operating for over 70 years.
  5. Advising a national bank on the UK aspects of the acquisition of a portfolio of hotels worldwide and the funding of a hotel in Birmingham.
  6. Advising the country’s largest social housing provider on a number of bond issues.
  7. Acting for a developer on the proposed acquisition of a major car manufacturing plant near London.
  8. Acting for the Department of Health and other health providers in relation to the sale and leaseback of a number of sites.
