Jonathan is an experienced professional and financial services expert with an extensive career working across consultancy businesses, financial service firms and regulatory bodies for over 25 years.

Jonathan spent over 15 years advising companies on the regulatory framework surrounding listing on the London markets (i.e. IPOs, M&A, and further issues) for the London Stock Exchange and the FSA/ FCA. Jonathan notably worked on the regulatory aspects impacting the UK banking industry after the global financial crisis in 2007/8, before taking up a senior compliance role with a US investment bank.

After the City of London, Jonathan successfully built a consultancy business advising start-ups, early-stage ventures and established SMEs seeking growth. This consultancy work not only provided exposure to the challenges facing UK companies but also provided valuable insight into companies, in various sectors, across the EU, Asia and Australasia and lead to him living in Europe, Australia and having operational control of a business unit in Hong Kong.

Jonathan joined Gateley Global in 2022 as PMO Service Lead and Head of Equity on the highly successful £30m Cambridgeshire and Peterborough Combined Authority’s (CPCA) Growth Works Programme. The programme’s objectives were to drive growth in business and skills, and to create long-term sustainable jobs across the region.

Consequently, Jonathan is a highly adaptable professional with a diverse portfolio of skills in compliance, regulation, corporate governance, processes, systems and controls. However, he is also skilled in building strategic relationships, strategy development and complex programme management and delivery.

Jonathan is part of the senior leadership team within Gateley Global. Aside from Jonathan’s programme management and client facing roles, he is also the senior responsible officer for managing many of Gateley Global’s internal systems and controls.

Experience

1. Overseeing the delivery of the CPCA Growth Works programme across all service lines, providing assurance to clients and stakeholders. As part of the innovative CPCA Growth Works programme, delivered £2m of grant funding in six weeks, unlocking £13m of capital expenditure and creating 321 jobs in the region.
2. As the Head of the Equity Service, Jonathan was responsible for overseeing £11m worth of equity funding for businesses across the CPCA region over an 18-month period. This was a particularly innovative aspect of the Growth Works programme as through effective risk management we were able to break new ground and encourage direct equity investment at a local government level. This involved programme and contract management, budget and resource management, relationship management, stakeholder engagement, as well as creating an investment and due diligence capability that met the clients risk appetite. 
3. Gateley Global has been appointed by The West Midlands Combined Authority as its partner to launch and deliver its £1.7m High Growth Accelerator Programme. As PMO Service Lead for the programme Jonathan will be involved in client care, compliance and oversight, reporting, lead generation, identifying growth prospects through metrics, sourcing and attracting investors and funding. It will also require the development of high-growth strategies, inducing material increases in investment and capital expenditure, training (including the development and/ or capacity of the senior management teams), encouraging innovation, R&D and importantly, job creation.
