Expertise

Ian leads our Architecture and Planning department and is experienced in residential (private/ social), heritage and property adaptions and conversions. With an extensive portfolio of other sectors including commercial, industrial, health/ care facilities, education and agricultural properties and their respective development needs.

Problem solving and negotiating the statutory and regulatory needs of building projects is a key skill; leading projects through all of the RIBA Plan of Work stages.

The department supports both insurance reinstatement projects and non-insurance related projects such as those from developers or individuals with excellent design skills and robust knowledge of planning, heritage and building regulations matters.

Ian is always seeking to promote sustainability in construction, alongside robust building detailing and material specification.

He is experienced at scanning buildings with cutting edge technology to speedily produce highly accurate measured surveys and drawings.

Ian’s clients range from private individuals, housebuilders, land owners, large estates, farmers, businesses and organisations.

I help clients achieve their aspirations for developing sites and buildings by recognising and understanding opportunities and constraints. I always seek good design and sustainability together with delivering a high quality service tailored to the development requirements.

  2. Secured planning and listed building consent for individuals and developers in countless projects.
  3. Appealed refusals successfully for clients with the planning inspectorate.

  5. Adapted developers standard housing to suit regulatory changes.
