Expertise

With over 20 years of experience in the building industry as a consulting structural engineer, and over 12 years as a chartered structural engineer with the Institution of Structural Engineers, Bryan has built up a considerable amount of experience and knowledge in both new build design and refurbishment, including defect diagnosis.

His varying range of experience in several sectors from domestic, public-sector education and leisure projects, through to private industrial and commercial premises, means that he can draw on a vast back catalogue of building projects, designs, defect diagnosis and remediation in several building forms and materials to apply to the problems presented.

His experience in managing design teams and leading design projects means that he has the appropriate people skills to assist his clients in delivering schemes, whether that is working with inhouse teams or external consultants or contractors.

During his time at Gateley Smithers Purslow he has been building a varying client base including local authorities, design and build contractors, fabricators, and property maintenance firms, as well as developing existing relationships with core insurance-based clients, leading to new referrals.

His core technical skill set lies in structural building design, including the main building materials, and its effective communication, structural surveys, structural defect diagnosis, remediation designs and proposals as well as management of design projects and teams.
