Allan has comprehensive construction experience gained over 39 years in various industries as a building surveyor and project manager dealing with defects, repair work, new build and feasibility studies. Experience in design and CAD drawings as well as managing a team of specialist designers.

Allan has worked for private companies as diverse as food producers and marinas, as well as local authorities and property consultancies. Allan is currently working almost exclusively with property related insurance claims due to flood, fire, escape of water or impact damage.

How do you help clients?

Every client has a building-related problem they need help to resolve. My job is to identify what the defect is and provide a solution. The building defect may be an obvious event such as a fire or flood, or just an area of damp or decay that has to be resolved. My job is to investigate the problem and provide a viable solution that can be economically undertaken.

Experience

1. Managing fire and flood damaged housing so the owners can move back to their home.
2. Investigating damp and water in a basement to find the source so it can be rectified.
3. Providing detailed specifications for both initial strip out and full reinstatement of the property.
4. Advising on reinstatement values of properties for valuation and insurance purposes.
5. Dealing with Building Control and Planning authorities, including for listed buildings.
