We have received ten shortlists across six categories at this year’s Midlands Dealmakers Awards.

We have been shortlisted for the coveted Corporate Law Firm of the Year award, while national head of corporate Beth Mather, head of corporate for Birmingham Andrew Cowan, and national head of our equity capital markets team Paul Cliff have all been shortlisted in the prestigious Corporate Lawyer of the Year category.

Six further shortlists include being named in the Deal of the Year (sub £10m) for acting on Fournet’s acquisition of Nowcomm and the sale of Bryland Fire Protection to Obsequio Group, Deal of the Year (£10-50m) for advising Palatine Private Equity on their investment in and acquisition of BK Plus Limited, Deal of the Year (£50m+) for acting on the sale of Serif Group Limited to Canva, Inc., and International Deal of the Year for advising the seller of Poundstretcher Ltd, Crown Crest, on the sale of the high street retailer to US investment firm Fortress Investment Group and the sale of Serif Group to Canva.

The Midlands Dealmakers Awards, which this year is celebrating its 30th anniversary and will be held at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole on Thursday 12 September 2024, is one of the biggest dates in the region’s corporate finance calendar and showcases the achievements of some of the region’s leading corporate dealmakers.

For the first time, this year’s regional winners will also go through to Insider’s National Awards on Thursday 6 February 2025 at Birmingham’s International Convention Centre.

Beth Mather, commented: “It is fantastic to be named in so many categories this year. It has been an incredible team effort over the last 12 months, and we are delighted that both the team and the deals we have acted on have been recognised.

“Having three members of the team also shortlisted in the Corporate Lawyer of the Year category is a first for Gateley and underscores our position as one of the country’s leading national corporate law firms. Once again, it is an impressive shortlist at this year’s awards, demonstrating the strength, depth and resilience of the dealmaking community in the Midlands, and we wish everyone the very best of luck on the night.”
