Gateley Belfast champions summer camp for Northern Ireland’s youth

Our Belfast office is sponsoring a youth camp planning to give 50 disadvantaged young people in Northern Ireland a summer to remember.
Camp Aspire (22-26 July) is now in its seventh year and run by Aspire NI, a charity based in Portadown Northern Ireland which delivers an educational based programme direct to schools as well as skills-based academies for young people from low-income families across Craigavon, Portadown, Lurgan, Banbridge and Belfast.
This year’s summer camp, which is taking place at the Scout Centre in Crawfordsburn, is an opportunity for young people from the charity’s Academy programme to participate in a range of sporting and recreational activities as well as delving into Northern Ireland’s complex history, learning about different cultures, and promoting diversity and inclusion.
Alison Reid, partner and head of our Belfast office, said: “As a responsible business, supporting our communities is an important part of our purpose. Our ongoing collaboration with Aspire NI, particularly with their Aspire Academy, has been incredibly rewarding. We’re excited to extend our support to Camp Aspire this year and support the charity’s mission to enrich the educational experiences of young people from all sides of the community. The Scout Centre at Crawfordsburn is a superb venue and the young people will have a fantastic time there together”.
Jamie Curran, Growth Marketing Manager at Aspire NI, added: “Camp Aspire is a transformative time for a number of young people on the Aspire programme. Camp allows time for young people and staff to get to know each other more which develops a level of trust that is difficult to build within the classroom. Camp Aspire encourages young people from different backgrounds to learn about different community groups, develop friendships and most importantly have fun in a relaxed safe environment.”
